Working principle and structure of four-way directional valve:

The four-way reversing valve is composed of a main valve, a pilot valve and an electromagnetic coil. The pilot valve is used to control the main valve, and the differential pressure is used to switch the valve, so the reversing is flexible and reliable.


When the air conditioner is set in the refrigerating state, the electromagnetic coil will lose power, and the core iron will move the sliding bowl to the left under the action of the spring, so that A and B are connected, the compressor suction pipe makes the left cavity of the main valve low pressure by B and a, and the compressor exhaust pipe (d) makes the right cavity of the main valve high pressure by D and C. The suction pipe (s) is communicated with the indoor heat exchanger and the exhaust pipe (D) is communicated with the outdoor heat exchanger to realize the refrigeration cycle.

When the air conditioner is set in the heating state, the solenoid coil is electrified and the core iron is sucked up, so that the sliding bowl moves to the right end, so that B and C are connected, D and a are connected, so that the left chamber of the main valve produces high pressure and the right chamber produces low pressure, the piston moves to the right under the pressure difference. At this point, the exhaust pipe (D) is communicated with the indoor heat exchanger, and the suction pipe (s) is communicated with the outdoor heat exchanger to realize the heating cycle.


Role of four-way reversing valve in heat pump air conditioning systems:

Four-way reversing valve is used to change the direction of refrigerant gas flow in heat pump type air-conditioning devices, it can also be used for defrosting. When frosting occurs on an outdoor heat exchanger, it can be used to switch the refrigerant flow direction and raise the temperature on the outdoor heat exchanger, complete defrosting within a short period of time.


The heat pump type air conditioner with four-way reversing valve has the following two advantages:

1.One machine dual-use: that is, cooling in summer, heating in winter, especially suitable for a year there are four seasonal changes in the region, greatly improving the utilization of air-conditioning.

2. Energy saving: this is compared with electric heating in winter heating, because the energy efficiency ratio of heat pump type air conditioning is about 3, that is, its thermal efficiency is about 3 times of electric heating efficiency, therefore, the purchase of heat pump air-conditioning users can save more than half of the electricity, and it is safe and reliable than electric heating.
